The Oracle's Voice

The Oracle does not have one voice today. Depending on where you meet her she speaks as a teenager, as a man, or through the same harsh filter the town automatons use, and on the Isle of Storms an old recorded greeting played on top of her spoken lines. We are fixing this. The doubled greeting is removed and reaches the test server with the next build, and she now has a single voice everywhere she appears: female, deep, composed, and faintly mechanical.

This vote is closed. Candidate B, the Ethereal Chamber, is the Oracle's voice. It is rolling out to every place she speaks. The samples stay up for listening and comments remain open at the bottom of the page.

Line 1: "My observations confirm you are following the path of truth, Avatar. Here is a small reward. Please return tomorrow if you would like to take this test again."
Line 2: "You are in fact following the path of truth, Avatar, so I cannot reward you today because you were incorrect with your answer. Please return tomorrow if you would test again."
Line 3: "I'm sorry. I need a clear answer, Avatar. Do you believe your actions follow the path of truth? Respond with yes or no, please."

Candidate A: The Quiet Machine

Deep and steady, with a faint mechanical shimmer and a short metallic echo.

Candidate B: The Ethereal Chamber

Chosen

No machine grain. Her voice is softly doubled and carries a chamber echo, as if the room itself spoke with her.

Candidate C: The Open Machine

The most mechanical of the four, with a deeper warble and a rougher grain. Still far gentler than the town automatons.

Candidate D: The Quiet Machine, Formal

The same treatment as Candidate A over a richer, more formal delivery with a British accent.
